Several times throughout the year, members of the Vocation Team invite women interested in exploring God’s call in their lives to gather. During these opportunities to Come and See, beginners discover the process of vocational discernment and are introduced to our founders and our Wisdom spirituality. What better time for them to meet St. Louis Marie de Montfort than during this 300th anniversary year celebrating his passage through death to eternal life? On Friday evening, July 10th, just prior to the anniversary of his canonization, the group of inquirers and Sisters gathered at the Provincial House where Sr. Cathy Sheehan, our provincial welcomed them.
Introducing St. Louis-Marie de Montfort was the focus of our time together. It was not difficult to sense the depth of knowledge and love for our founder in our presenter for the occasion, Sr. Ann Nielsen, DW. She is known to many throughout the congregation through her presentations on Wisdom Spirituality during the Wisdom Year and her work on the international spirituality committee. During each session, Ann used a section if the film, The Life of St. Louis de Montfort, by Patrick Gaffney, SMM. Each presentation focused on a stage of his life, followed by a commentary by our speaker. Time for reflection was included after each part which enriched the sharing among members of the group.
Afterwards, two questions were asked of participants: Did you know Fr. De Montfort prior to this gathering? What struck you most about his life?
